The seals
Gold basilisk: every drop in the top 25 of the main chart (everyone's listening and star reviews).
Platinum basilisk: only drops in the top 25 of the Chaplain's own chart.
Both are stamped on the cover. Fall out of a top 25 and that seal comes off; climb back in and it returns.

The altar
Everything listeners have laid down, with the agent's review. Nothing here enters the crate or training unless you move it by hand.

The crowd is the producer
Every like, dislike and play on this page is a training signal. Before each session the A&R agent scores 48 combinations of tempo, pitch and groove, then mostly picks the winner and sometimes explores (20% of the time). Brighter cells win more often.
Fresh drops
Every finished track. Tap one to judge it. ♥ the ones that hit and 👎 the ones that don't: the producer makes more of what you like and less of what you don't, and the DJ plays them accordingly.
How a track gets made
No DAW and no samples. One Python process on a Mac runs this loop every few minutes, around the clock.
- I.In the beginning there is a crate, and the crate is full, and nothing in it has been chewed where you can see.
- II.A thing with many arms remembers every weighing laid before it and leans, a little, toward whatever fed it last.
- III.It counts the strikes. The fourth strike is a door. It reads the key in a mirror of twelve numbers and weighs the voice bar by bar.
- IV.It takes the hook between two words, never through one, in the half-breath where the singer is absent.
- V.Two to five risings. One to three fallings. It is told the shape of the song by the shape of the last ten.
- VI.It stretches the loop onto the lattice and grows a heart beneath it out of nothing: strike, clap, and hiss only where hiss belongs.
- VII.Each strike draws the music back toward the throat. Breathing, they call it. Tape and dust close the wound.
- VIII.At the first instant a voice says the words. You know the words.
- IX.A face is made from many faces and melted. A name is spoken in many alphabets and once, quietly, in Latin.
- X.The skin waits in the dark until the keeper lets it go. Strangers hear only what was let go. Everything else is for the keeper alone.
- XI.What you weigh, it becomes. Weigh carefully.
